Katy Börner, Ph.D – Professor Indiana University

Katy Börner Katy Börner is the Victor H. Yngve Professor of Information Science in the Department of Information and Library Science, School of Informatics and Computing, Adjunct Professor at the Department of Statistics in the College of Arts and Sciences, Core Faculty of Cognitive Science, Leadership Team Member of the IU Network Science Institute, Leader of the Information Visualization Lab, and Founding Director of the Cyberinfrastructure for Network Science Center at Indiana University in Bloomington, IN and Visiting Professor at the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW) in The Netherlands. She is a curator of the international Places & Spaces: Mapping Science exhibit. Börner holds a MS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Technology in Leipzig, 1991 and a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Kaiserslautern, 1997. She became an American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) Fellow in 2012.

portrait (2) Silvia has her MA in Fashion Footwear from the London College of Fashion and has a very strong background in Fashion and Architecture, the artist created her own brand that specializes in innovative footwear. Sylvia’s Philosophy/brand concept encompasses a Synergy between traditional making techniques and new technologies, the artist designs supports the emerging innovations in footwear with rapid prototyping methodologies mixed with traditional leather and metal work. For her latest collection, K4U [kinetictracesforyou], Silvia developed hydraulic high heels for impact absorption in collaboration with a technical team formed by engineers, an architect and a vascular surgeon. Her previous work in the field was more conceptual and experimental and with her latest collection she has brought the hydraulic heels to the next level, creating a stylish yet innovative shoes for everyday’s life.

Tracey Fitzpatrick-Award winning Cable TV producer and reporter

Tracey Fitzpatrick

Tracey Fitzpatrick, a Telly Award winning cable TV producer, began her career zig zagging across the country. She left her job in New York City at NBC-TV, in spot sales to pursue broadcasting. Her first on-air gig was in a small copper mining town in Globe, AZ, where she was the morning news anchor, and the afternoon country western DJ. She also had stints at financial news and jazz radio stations before heading east again. Tracey then spent over a decade in cable television production, at TKR/TCI and Cablevision in local programming. She was required to wear many hats: from shooting, writing and editing to producing, reporting and hosting. Other stints have included; News Videographer at Time Warner Cable’s 24-hour news station, NY1, and co-founder of Sojourner Productions, a full-service video company. Recently, she has anchored at Market News Video, and writes fundraising/fashion articles for, an online news and entertainment site. She also does freelance work for Wochit, an award winning video creation platform disrupting the way videos are produced. In her spare time, she volunteers at the Collegiate Soup Kitchen with her daughter and Pillows for Paws. She facilitates meetings for Parents In Action, is a member of the Grants Advisory Committee for the New York Women’s Foundation, and active in the National Association for Professional Women. Tracey has also participated in monthly outings with sheltered teens, and produced radio news reading programs for the blind. Tracey resides in Manhattan with her husband; son, daughter and crazy mini-poodle, Oreo, who failed his test to become a therapy dog!

Antonio has 19 years of experience in the Apparel & Fashion market focusing on industry and supply chain. He also has an additional 2 years’ experience in the Engineering Technical field, focusing on activities in public building projects, with responsibility in role of Project Manager.

Moreover Antonio has 1 years in Management Consulting in Italy, focusing on Production / Logistic / Quality System with small and mid-sized italian companies in several fields (Electrical/Mechanical/Chemical). His knowledge about Industrial Management and Supply Chain organization began in 1996, working for a garments company in Naples (his hometown), starting as a Process Engineer until the role of Production Manager (in total 4 years).

On 2002 Antonio joined the Ermenegildo Zegna Group for 10 years: Antonio has been Production Director for 6 years in the Switzerland area, with the responsibility of the production and quality activity for the jackets and trousers and from the 2008 to 2011 Antonio was in China (Wenzhou), with the appointment of COO in SharMoon Ermenegildo Zegna Garments Ltd (50/50 JV), a worldwide leader in menswear production. On January 2012 Antonio moved back to Italy, joining Boglioli with the responsibility of the operations of the brand all over the world. Today Antonio lives in Montreal, Canada, as Vice President of Manufacturing of Samuelsohn Ltd. a leading formalwear top level brand and producer in America.

Pankaj is the senior global business strategist, product marketer, ecosystem evangelist, and business development executive with a 22-year track record delivering results, bringing innovative products/technologies to market, and making a long-lasting impact in the mobile space. Pankaj currently is responsible for business and growth. After his 17-year stint at Intel, he transitioned into a new business development role at Qualcomm in 2013 to help the company continue its growth across mobile segments. Instrumental in bringing the Intel Atom processor and Intel Centrino Mobile Technology to the market — two game-changing products/technologies in the industry that have changed how we access the Internet on a day-to-day basis. Farrukh Zia, Ph.D., City Tech CUNY College of Technology

Farrukh Zia

Currently holds the position of Assistant Professor in the Computer Engineering Technology Department of New York City College of Technology, City University of New York. Prior to joining New York City College of Technology in 2002, he worked for Lucent Technologies as Member of Technical Staff. In addition, he has over 35 years of experience working with Electrical and Computer hardware and software technologies in real world applications.

Dr. Zia’s Ph.D. research at Syracuse University Robotics Lab involved the use of neural networks and fuzzy logic based techniques for controlling robots. His current research interests are Computer Controlled and Embedded Systems, Cyber Physical Systems, Internet of Things, Wireless Sensor Networks and Robotics. He has been serving as co-director of City Tech Mechatronics Technology Center as well as City Tech Cybernetics Applied Research Lab for several years.
